Children at a special school in Milton Keynes were presented with a totally refurbished minibus to use on trips out thanks to companies around the UK like Koller, specialists in the design and manufacture of wheelchair accessible vehicle products.
Pupils and staff from the Redway School, which is described as an ‘extra special’ special school and teaches children and teenagers from the age of two to 19 who have a range of learning difficulties, were pleased to receive their ‘new-look’ minibus.
A group initiative saw seven companies from the mobility industry join forces to totally transform the Milton Keynes based Local Authority school minibus with new equipment including wheelchair restraints and an access lift.
Dean Koller, director of Koller said: “We were approached by London Hire to help them in updating the Redway School’s minibus to equip it with the very latest Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle products. We were only too pleased to provide our innovative equipment for the vehicle.
“Koller believe it is important to help local charities and support communities with projects like this. We hope the newly refurbished minibus will make a big difference to the school and provide the very best transport for the pupils. We are delighted that the refurbished minibus will help in providing specially adapted wheelchair access to allow students in wheelchairs and with special needs, the opportunity to get out of the classroom.”
